Mechanical Goals
Objectives:
To manufacture a unified X and Y carriage that accomplishes several goals
- A minimized footprint
- Reduced axis weight to reduce wear
- High speed while maintaining required accuracy of 250 microns
To manufacture a linear stage that has the following specifications:
- X-axis: rails – 11cm
- Y-axis: rods – 12 in
- Z-axis: lead (acme) screw/ or square
Z Axis & Framework
To construct a framework that can support the z axis while preventing vibrational transfer at low cost.
To construct a self contained machine that can operate with minimal human interference.
